WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE SAYING!

ON THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD EDUCATION --

“What’ll we do with this mosquito, now that we got him?” he asked Trilla. “I s’pose we should make sure he’s learned his lesson.”

“Well, then cut off his head, you big silly.” she said. “Your knife is on the ground, and it’s pretty sharp. Just pop him onto the stump, and Whammo! No more head. No more Obo. I’d consider him fairly well-educated at that point" ~ from TRILLA

ON THE TOPIC OF CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE --
“I fear you are mistaken.” denied Billy insouciantly. “You haven’t grabbed us out of our boat.  You haven’t taken us into custody.  We are a free as the little birdies, and if we ain’t been grabbed, we ain’t in custody.”  Aggie looked at Billy disapprovingly for his language, but Billy just winked and shrugged her off.
“Yeah!” affirmed Funny-Foot. “And if we, ah-um, ain’t in custody, we ah-erm, ain’t under arrest!” Billy looked back at Aggie and grinned shamelessly.  She rolled her eyes, shook her head, and gave up. Being around Billy Brown was like being caught in a grinning avalanche.  Sooner or later, everybody just rolled with it. It was simpler that way. ~ from THE WOON OF BINK
